Author Sherwood Devisser

SHERWOOD DEVISSER

Sherwood De Visser is a Michigander and known as a gifted, natural storyteller. He was born into an all-Special Needs family, never before documented in a creative memoir series. His Christian values are gently weaved into his stories. His stories are riveting, fantastical, spiced with just the right amount of merriment. For the non-Christian, the stories are Jack Kerouac-style wanderings. It is like going on a road trip with a buddy, listening to old memories set to the background music of a good playlist.

He has written Raspberry Wars and Soul Ride, and working on two other creative memoirs: Rockfish and Stone Road Stories from A Small Town.

More about Sherwood

Rockfish will be his first 3rd Person private investigative noir genre. A gritty but humorous look at his years as an investigator in the big cities of Detroit and Chicago. Stone Road Stories will be a colorful venture of farm life in a small Michigan town on an equally small country road, filled with odd characters, friendly farm creatures, and other oddies.

He was Winner of the prestigious Cranbrook Writing Contest, Honorable Mention in the Michigan Historical Review, and Finalist in 2024 Writers Digest for Raspberry Wars.

Has been a professional investigator for 35 years and a public-school teacher for 10 years. These experiences are absolute to grand story telling. These experiences along with Jack Kerouac wanderings bring out a personal touch in every project.

Sherwood with an eclectic upbringing bring forth quirkiness which makes the readers enjoy the humanness of daily life from everyday life. The readers will find kindness where kindness is unexpected, and unkindness where kindness should abound.

Sherwood lives in Howell, Michigan with his wife of 4 decades. He has two children, and 5 grandchildren, whom he tries to convert to his new found favorite pastime -GOLF.

Enjoy his rides!
